There is good news from Europe as well: Lukashenko's assets will be frozen (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060514/wl_nm/eu_belarus_dc_2). By the way, these days EU criticizes Bulgaria harshly for failing to meet the membership criteria. Putting together these puzzle pieces, it seems that the wind is blowing from the right direction. I just wonder why our government periodically invites Belarussian officials, gives them warm welcome and presumably signs with them dubious papers behind closed doors. It must be clear for everybody that support for current Belarussian leadership means putting one's stake on a lame horse. And, as far as I know, Belarus even doesn't have oil!Maya Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10877457709995369246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25206081.post-1147759725807670842006-05-15T23:08:00.000-07:002006-05-15T23:08:00.000-07:00Hi Maya,I'm pasting part of a comment I made on Hi...Hi Maya,

I'm pasting part of a comment I made on Highlander's blog here, because I'm too lazy to type it twice :)

I saw on the news ticker that Bush seems to have made statement highly critical of Lukashenko today. In fact, more than a statement, a new policy towards Belarus apparrently. A travel ban... which is odd, since even Iranian government officials are not banned from travelling to the US!

Belarus Officials Are Barred From U.S., Bush Saysprogrammer craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17566950406349754166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25206081.post-1147731631288128432006-05-15T15:20:00.000-07:002006-05-15T15:20:00.000-07:00You are welcome Maya, I hope things can improve fo...You are welcome Maya, I hope things can improve for all asylum seekers ..keep up the good workHighlanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16532761296990891687noreply@blogger.com
