A family member of mine likes watching Russian movies. They cheer him up and fill him with optimism. How? Whenever he gets depressed from the reality of our fucked-up state, he turns on a Russian movie to remind himself that there are much, much worse places to live in. Besides, he likes horror movies, and most modern Russian productions can pass in this category despite their realism.
