Translating from a June 4 interview with the Russian opposition activist German Obuhov in the Obozrevatel:
"...Sanctions themselves will have a big impact, since then Moscow will not be able to sell its oil and gas to almost anyone.
In general, all Russian banks should have been disconnected from SWIFT long ago, but the West does not understand this. They think: well, there are some private banks left, trade... No. If at least one bank remains in the system, dual-use trade will continue...
What is surprising is that Europe still does not want to deal with Russia's ideology. While they are dealing with the economy, sanctions, military aid, they do not pay any attention to ideology. This was the case during the Second World War and during the Cold War.
I mean, Moscow tells its not very smart citizens almost every day that they are fighting "Nazis" in Ukraine, they want to "denazify", "demilitarize" and other nonsense. The people have absorbed this and can no longer imagine how it could be any other way.
But Europe is silent. It does not respond to all these insults, to the attacks of Moscow propaganda, which is, in fact, a mouthpiece of the Kremlin. Brussels, Berlin, Paris should have been talking about neo-Nazism in Russia long ago.
This is the basis from which all wars began and ended. There is neo-Nazism in Russia, but there is none of this in Ukraine or Europe. And what Moscow says is simply unsubstantiated, empty words, it is propaganda that works for its consumer, for its people. And not only large payments, but also this ideological basis influences the fact that there are many people in Russia willing to go and fight in Ukraine. If there were no such basis, the picture would be completely different.
But, unfortunately, the leaders of European countries, including Ukraine, are engaged in pragmatic things – economics, military supplies – but not ideology. The scientific community is also keeping quiet for now."
