It is outrageous that the West makes deals with Russia, forgetting Ukraine

From the Obozrevatel, October 9, 2026:

"Sanctions at a price list: European principles ended where financial losses began

Ivan Nosenko

Estonia requested that Russia’s Solikamsk Magnesium Plant and its CEO not be included in the new EU sanctions list—and succeeded.

The reason is simple: the Estonian company NPM Silmet relies on Russian raw materials, while European industry uses its products. They say they are looking for an alternative and will revisit the sanctions issue next year.

It turns out that more than four years of major war were not enough.

Ukrainians must die holding back Russia, while we continue buying raw materials from Russia because the alternative is more expensive. A very convenient form of European fairness: your lives versus our profit margins.

And this is despite the fact that Russia poses a direct threat to Estonia itself. In other words, Ukraine is currently holding back a state that could reach Estonia’s borders tomorrow, yet Estonia continues to maintain business ties with it because it is more convenient and cheaper.

Sanctions that remain in place only until they become costly are not sanctions. They are a price list for principles."
