From UNIAN:
"Nuclear Power Plant Attacks: Russia is Hamas with Nuclear Weapons
Vladimir Omelchenko, Director of Energy Programs, Razumkov Center, 03.10.25
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin continues to issue threats against Ukraine. Specifically, at a session of the Valdai Discussion Club, he raised the possibility of Russian strikes on Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
However, it's important to understand that this isn't the first time Russia has deliberately attacked nuclear facilities in Ukraine. Recently, a strike on a substation in the city of Slavutych caused a blackout at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant that lasted for over three hours. This meant that the sarcophagus over the destroyed fourth reactor was also left without power. Furthermore, back in February of this year, the Russians used a strike drone to directly attack the confinement, damaging the "Shelter"—the smoldering continued for several days, and our firefighters barely managed to extinguish it.
A similar situation occurred with Russia's deliberate and long-term damage to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The enemy deliberately destroyed, with its military assets, the only power line that supplied the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant from Ukrainian government-controlled territory. And this was done for the Kremlin's latest round of nuclear blackmail as a political ploy. After all, Russia is essentially Hamas with nuclear reactors and missiles.
The fact is that all of the Zaporizhzhya NPP units are currently in their safest state—all six units have been in "cold shutdown" for almost three years. However, this is unacceptable to Russia, as all of its nuclear threats are then undermined by expert commentary on the real threats. Consequently, the Russians prefer to put the Zaporizhzhya NPP units into "hot shutdown" and then into operation. Considering that the plant is essentially in the hands of military terrorists, restarting the units will become a new factor for nuclear blackmail, as such operation is much riskier than the current "cold shutdown" state.
However, to implement their plans, they need to disconnect from the Ukrainian energy system and connect to the Russian one. To do this, Russia is prepared to resort to any provocation.
So, the Russians are now spreading their IPSO about "nuclear threats" around the world in order to get the world to make concessions and even help connect the Zaporizhzhia NPP to the Russian grid. But they must understand that this carries great risks for the world.
Firstly, what's happening now is just a warm-up. If the world makes concessions, Russia will then raise the stakes, moving from a low level of blackmail to a higher one.
Secondly, if Russia succeeds in its plans, the plant will operate at full capacity, and safety risks will increase significantly. After all, non-Russian specialists have no access to the Zaporizhzhya NPP. There are also no guarantees that Russians adhere to strict operating rules at the nuclear facility.
Thirdly, the attacks on other nuclear facilities in Ukraine are proof of the IAEA's complete incompetence. Finally, can we expect protection from an organization whose Director General, Rafael Grossi, recently flew to Moscow to congratulate Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on the 70th anniversary of Rosatom (under whose auspices attempts to connect Zaporizhzhia NPP to the Russian power grid are underway?)?
Thus, the Russians have already resorted to nuclear blackmail and will attempt to further strengthen their position in this regard, specifically by creating conditions conducive to nuclear danger."
