How European democracy weakens us in the face of Russia

Translating from the Dialog, June 29:

"Portnikov explained that fear of whom, besides Putin, is holding back Europe in its efforts to end the war

Vitaly Portnikov believes that European leaders are afraid of the backlash of their citizens to the warning about the danger.

If the current authorities of European countries start "loudly shouting" about the danger from Russia, then the population may decide that these politicians cannot be trusted, and next time they will vote for those who promise to negotiate with Putin, Vitaly Portnikov revealed the essence of the problem...

It doesn't matter what European politicians say about Russia's attack, that they need to increase military budgets, if they don't say that there is a danger, then no parliament will vote for increasing the military budget," the political observer expressed his opinion.

Then Vitaly Portnikov suddenly declared: "There is another very serious danger here, that if they talk about this too actively and manage to change public opinion, then public opinion may not make the conclusion that they like. People will vote for those parties that will call for finding mutual understanding with Moscow, so as not to increase military budgets, not to create security problems for ordinary citizens, to come to an agreement with Putin and live in peace. Why do we need people who are willingly pushing Europe into war because they cannot come to an agreement with Putin?""
