"Expert reveals goal of Russian offensive in the east: "War not for territory"
Russian occupiers are planning to seize metallurgical enterprises of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration after taking control of deposits in the Pokrovsky district. This was stated by military expert Dmitry Snegirev on the air of "Espresso".
"It is a mistake to think that the enemy's main attack direction is Pokrovsk. This war is not for territories, but for minerals. The Russians were interested in the Pokrovsky district for its lithium deposits, namely the village of Shevchenko. Now they have resolved this issue, captured a strategic Ukrainian deposit, which is one of the largest in Europe," he noted.
The Russians also captured the village of Kotlino, which has deposits of coking coal. Snegirev noted that these are the largest deposits of coking coal in Europe.
He believes that the occupiers were solving several issues for themselves, not only control over these deposits, but also attacks on metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine, controlling the deposit in the Pokrovsky district.
Snegirev explained that the issue is that the production of metal products in Ukraine after the seizure of coking coal deposits could decrease from 6 million tons to 2.5 million tons.
Therefore, this is social tension in the territories controlled by Ukraine, namely in the Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, where the main metallurgical enterprises of our state are concentrated. In addition, due to the occupation of such deposits, colossal foreign currency funds do not enter the budget.
"The main goal of the occupiers is to seize the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, four important industrial cities of Ukraine: Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkovka, Konstantinovka. And the Russians are rushing to Slavyansk because it has the largest shale gas deposits in Europe. So, here you have a solution to economic issues by seizing Ukrainian territories," the expert concluded."
