Kasparov: China benefits from the war

Grandmaster Garry Kasparov explained that China benefits from the war in Ukraine, which is why it's not stopping Putin  

Xi Jinping could force Putin to end the war in Ukraine, and Putin would not disobey him, but he's not doing so because the current state of affairs benefits him, opined Garry Kasparov. Russia is weakening, the US is squabbling with Europe, and China, meanwhile, is quietly expanding into Siberia and the Far East.  

Garry Kasparov expressed his view of the situation on the YouTube channel "Free Russia Forum." 

A Russian opposition figure named a country that wields enormous influence over Putin: "The war in Ukraine is a fundamental issue for Trump. Naturally, China could end the war tomorrow. He'll tell Putin to end it, and I think Putin will be in big trouble if he disobeys. Maybe Putin will balk, but in any case, China currently has the most leverage. I think the war is simply very beneficial for China." 

Kasparov also responded to the question of what China gains from the war in Ukraine: "Firstly, it distracts the West. It deepens the crisis between Europe and America. These are, in fact, quite serious problems. This gives China new opportunities in Europe. Furthermore, it effectively subjugates Russia. Russia is completely tied to China today, meaning China is gaining more and more leverage over Moscow, and the 'bonus' is the continued depopulation of the Far East and Siberia."

Kasparov suggested that there may well be more Chinese than indigenous people in the Far East and Siberia. This is especially true given that it is from the Russian hinterland that most men are being drafted to fight in Ukraine."
