Political scientist Michael Nacke warned Ukraine against rashly signing a peace agreement with Russia
Putin doesn't need peace now, and the American plan could be an attempt to pressure Ukraine, Michael Nacke suggested. The Kremlin will refuse to sign a peace agreement, even if it was drafted and "dictated" to the Americans, because they are pursuing a completely different goal.
Michael Nacke expressed his understanding of what is happening on YouTube.
A popular blogger explained what's really happening now: "There's only one exceptional circumstance. It's that Russia has no intention of signing any plan, even if it includes the clause about withdrawing from Donbas. The plan proposed by Dmitriev and the American administration, despite being pro-Russian, is still completely humiliating and unacceptable to Putin, and, it seems to me, its only goal is to get Ukraine to reject it and for Trump to begin pressuring Kyiv by lifting sanctions against Russia and halting arms supplies to Ukraine."
"From this perspective, accepting this plan, even with its unacceptable clause, may be strategically justified. However, this is a risk, because, for example, in a year or less, when Putin has exhausted his resources and is ready to truly negotiate peace, he will refer to this plan and say, 'Well, there you go. You promised.' How to get out of this situation then is completely unclear."
