"Russia is not fighting for territory: Zelenskyy made a statement amid negotiations with the US

Russia is the initiator and aggressor in the current war. And given Russia's size, this war is being waged not for territorial expansion, but for the Kremlin's very "right" to start wars. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote this on Telegram.
"Russia started this war—and only Russia, and throughout this full-scale war, it is Russia and only Russia that refuses to end it. Putin is waging this war in such a way that he doesn't care how many of his own people he loses or how many of ours he kills. Russian commanders don't simply want to act cruelly—they have clear orders to kill as they please," Zelenskyy wrote.
The president recalled that Russian aggression began in 2014, and since then, Moscow has been fighting for "the opportunity to continue fighting even longer, and not just against Ukraine."
Speaking about current US efforts to end this war, Zelenskyy urged people "not to forget the main goal" – to stop the conflict so that it doesn't flare up again.
The president recalled that Russia's internationally recognized territory is already the largest in the world. Given this, as well as the Kremlin's willingness to make great sacrifices, Zelenskyy notes that Russia is not fighting for territory, but for its own "right to war" and the "right to conquer" its neighbors.
"That's why we are working so carefully on every point, every step toward peace. Everything must work correctly – to truly end this war and prevent a repeat of it," Zelenskyy wrote."
