From Unian, Sept. 20:
"NATO must respond firmly to Russian provocations, such as yesterday's fighter jet incursion into Estonian airspace. In such situations, Russian aircraft can be shot down, Czech President Petr Pavel stated on Czech television...
The Czech president recalled that Türkiye had resorted to a harsh response to Russian provocations, shooting down a Russian Su-24 bomber in November 2015 during the war in Syria.
Pavel noted that during his tenure as Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, he once directly asked the Russians why they constantly staged such provocations. The Russians responded, "Because we can."
"They are testing our resilience, our resolve to defend ourselves. I think we must be extremely firm in our understanding that if the rules are violated, we must respond appropriately, including militarily. Russia will very quickly realize that it made a mistake, that it has overstepped its bounds. But, unfortunately, it is indeed balancing on the brink of conflict, and giving in to evil is simply impossible," the Czech president said."
