"Why "Mysterious" Drones Are Appearing Over Europe: An Expert Reveals the Russians' Cunning Tactics
Tanya Polyakovskaya, 9/26/25
Drones over Europe don't appear out of nowhere. This was written by Sergei "Flash" Beskrestnov, an expert in communications and electronic warfare technologies, on his Telegram channel, discussing the situation with "mysterious drones over Europe."
"UAVs don't appear out of nowhere. They either fly in from afar, and their route is clearly tracked by NATO air defenses. Or they are launched locally by some sabotage and reconnaissance groups. There's no information about any of this, although NATO does have it. My personal opinion is that the launch was from Russian naval vessels in the Baltic Sea. As an engineer, that's what I would have done," he noted.
Furthermore, the expert emphasized that all UAV sightings were recorded in countries located near Russia.
He also noted that, aside from statements from countries, "there is no physical evidence of what's actually flying."
"The term 'drone' could refer to anything from a Mavic to the massive Russian Orion reconnaissance aircraft. But there are no wreckage or photos," wrote Beskrestnov.
The expert also noted that "the appearance of mysterious UAVs only physically impacts airport operations, civilian traffic, and transportation."
Flash added that the disruption of air travel and the unknown threat are causing a significant media outcry among the public.
"The reasons are as follows: A classic example of a so-called hybrid war, depicted in many films, is unfolding. Fear, misunderstanding of what's happening, misunderstanding of the source of the threat, tension in society, distraction from other events, and a shift in priorities for current processes," he wrote.
Beskrestnov emphasized that this is happening to "create the image of Russia as an all-powerful military, technical, and political adversary on the continent."
"This will make Europeans reluctant to 'make an enemy' (with the possible subsequent war)," the expert believes.
Furthermore, according to him, this is happening to divert attention from the situation in Ukraine.
"Shifting financial and military priorities to defending Europe rather than aiding Ukraine. Strengthening the air defenses of all NATO countries (to combat this type of UAV in large numbers) requires enormous resources," he said.
Flash also emphasized that this involves "testing the so-called 'red lines.'"
"How far can Russia go without causing negative consequences? After that, a shift in these 'red lines' is possible," Beskrestnov explained."
