On Sept. 12, the UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly in support of a Palestinian state: 142 countries, while 10 voted against and 12 abstained (source):
Below is the comment of Olexander Kirsh, Ukrainian-Jewish journalist (source: Unian):
"The so-called Palestinian state in western and eastern Israel is analogous to the "DPR" and "LPR"

Suddenly, the time has come for an unprecedented anti-Israeli global bacchanalia, when the Jewish state is openly betrayed by two countries that are permanent members of the UN Security Council – Great Britain and France, Canada and Australia, Portugal and Belgium, not to mention all sorts of Malta/Luxembourg/Andorra – and even Germany, traditionally friendly to it, is wavering, while only Trump’s United States remains steadfast in its support.
Under these circumstances, it's crucial that Ukraine fights the terrorist horde, just as Israel is forced to do, as its many enemies deny its residents' right to exist, encroaching on its lands from all sides with the help of the UN [tainted by its complicity with the aggressors], and all this, again, just like in Ukraine! So we have a rare chance to demonstrate unique solidarity, remembering the eternal truth: TROUBLE BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER...
Because Hamas is a miniature Middle Eastern Russia, Gaza and the so-called West Bank of the Jordan River are, accordingly, analogous to the parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions stolen from Ukraine, or, for example, Crimea, and East Jerusalem, which is also claimed, is the Israeli Darnitsa.
Israel, like the United States, incidentally, has much to offer Ukraine, and Jews have been conditioned by history to value those who stand by their side in the most difficult times.
I fully understand the complexities of the Ukrainian government, which, so to speak, finds it somewhat uneasy to support the Jewish state, lest anyone quietly think "something is wrong." Although, as everyone can see, I personally don't have such complexes. However, I'm not in power, and therefore I can quite frankly allow myself "a little Zionism."
In this delicate/subtle/sensitive situation, it would be quite appropriate if the corresponding impulse initially came not from the authorities, but, say, from the "ultra-right Ukrainian nationalists" - for example, from the All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda.
Incidentally, it was from former Svoboda MP Ihor Miroshnichenko that I heard the most well-reasoned position on Ukraine's far more active support for Israel than the overly cautious and rather inconsistent one we've unfortunately become accustomed to.
And then the government will join in if some "crumbs of Zionism" are, so to speak, sanctified by Ukrainian nationalists.
And let the world see that our "far right," when needed for Ukraine and for justice, can be much more pro-Jewish than today's so-called liberals and their famous "DEI ideas," according to which "diversity, equality, inclusion" for some reason does not extend to Israel (and the right of Jews to live free from terror!)."
