Trump's administration is childish

From an interview of Ukrainian military analyst Mikhaylo Samus to the Obozrevatel26.09.2025:

"There's no doubt that in 1991 we received international support; we declared independence, sovereignty, our territory, and we have a Constitution. And that can't be questioned in any way. So, when they say we can't restore our territorial integrity, I believe that's untrue. The question is when, under what conditions, and so on.

Of course, it's hard to imagine right now that we could so easily restore the territorial integrity of 1991. Meanwhile, we could never agree to Trump's proposals. Let me remind you that he, sometimes through Whitkoff, sometimes through Rubio, and sometimes directly, told us to officially recognize the occupied territories as Russian. They also said that the United States was prepared to recognize Crimea as Russian.

And we responded, "Guys, go somewhere to the side and don't interfere with serious people doing serious things, that is, protecting our territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the life of the Ukrainian nation." Because no one cares about the Trump administration's childish statements...

So when they ask us: what can you do? Can you compromise in negotiations with Putin? Can you discuss things? And so on? Our position is clear. We can only agree to a ceasefire. You can look at any statement by President Zelenskyy, or at Ukraine's official position...

We'll see how Trump's statements are implemented in practice. If he meant he'd continue selling us weapons, fine. The main thing is that he doesn't support Putin, because everything Trump has done up until now has been support for Putin. The Alaska visit, the applause, the refusal to impose sanctions. Let me remind you that the Trump administration hasn't imposed a single sanction against Putin, Russia, or Russian aggressors during its time in office.

If they impose sanctions, if they take some practical steps, then we can say: okay, now you're starting to understand what's going on. Well done. You're slowly growing up. You're gradually emerging from this political dwarf that the Trump administration has turned the US into, a country that could aspire to once again assume leadership in the Western world, in democratic civilization. Because the US was rapidly losing that status. Literally until the very last moment.

They haven't yet done anything to become a mature player with mature people. Ukrainians, for example, are mature people who clearly understand what's going on, what we need, and what we're striving for...

You know that the Minsk agreements were never implemented. Do you know where exactly? In Debaltseve. Look at the Minsk agreements; they clearly state that Debaltseve is transferred to the Ukrainian government's zone of responsibility. And there was also a quasi-entity that was never officially defined, the so-called "separate districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts," supposedly separatists who had no ties to Russia..."
