Trump's reaction to the Russian drones in Poland was pathetic

Leonid Nevzlin in the Obozrevatel, Sept. 12:

"Trump's real mistake

"It could have been a mistake, but I'm still not happy with the whole situation. I hope it all ends soon," Donald Trump said, commenting on the Russian drone incursion into Poland.

However, the real mistake is turning a blind eye to Russia's dangerous provocation, which threatens to spread the war to other European countries. Putin not only demonstrates the West's inability to respond forcefully, but also constantly pushes the boundaries of what is still considered hybrid aggression.

This week, the "new normal" became hunting Russian drones in the skies over NATO countries. If the West doesn't wake up, the next "new normal" could be missile strikes on logistics hubs supplying aid to Ukraine. And then the Suwalki Gap will become a legitimate topic of discussion somewhere in Alaska.

The attempt to appease the aggressor has long since failed. Putin doesn't need appeasement: he intends to go all the way. He can only be stopped by force—before it's too late."
